Revival
Bookreview / November 30, 2014

Revival is the latest novel by Stephen King, one of my all time favorite authors. I have read most of his work and it has always given me great pleasure. I have also complained that ever since King got into a car accident, his novels went down. But with this book King has come back to his old level again. I read this book in 2 days and I love it very very much. I guess you could say its based on the Frankenstein story, but that only becomes clear in the end of the story. In the story we follow Jamie Morton, who lives in a small town. One day he is out playing when a shadow falls over him. It is the new pastor and his wife who come to take over the church in the town. Soon the church is full again. All the women are in love with the new pastor, all the men have an eye for the pastors wife. But then something terrible happens and the pastor is chased out of town, disappearing forever. Years later Jamie is addicted to drugs and travels all over the country with his guitar, making a little money…

The Boyfriend Mandate (The Boyfriend Chronicles part 2)
Bookreview / November 24, 2014

This is part 2 in the Boyfriend Chronicles, and although I liked part 1 a little better, this one is not bad also. In the first part we met Tyler, who has never been able to stick with one man only. In part 2 not that much has changed. Tyler still remembers his first boyfriend Memphis Haines, now a well known Hollywood stuntman and also straight. Or at least, that’s what he tells the world. He has even been married to his female agent for a while. But luck brings Memphis and Tyler back together again and they soon discover the old passion hasn’t gone away yet. But both men have some secrets they are afraid to reveal to the other and to the world. Will they find the strength to come clean and fall in love the way they are supposed to? I really like the way River Jaymes writes these stories. She makes the characters very believable and everything that happens to them just goes straight to the heart. You feel every bit of pain and emotion the characters go through and that is what makes a book strong in my opinion. River Jaymes has a very nice…

Fixing the Hole
Bookreview / November 21, 2014

A very short story but it starts out very good. In a very bad storm a tree hits a house and there is huge hole in the roof. A friend recommends Riley to fix it, since he is very good at his work and doesn’t charge a lot of money. So he calls Riley and they agree to meet the very next day. Riley arrives late with music very loud, but turns out to be a very cute 28 year old guy. But he is 45, no way a guy like Riley could be interested in someone that old? Also his last boyfriend broke his heart by running off with a younger guy, telling him that he is old and boring. Now he is afraid to open his heart again, fearing someone might break it again. Katherine Halle is supposed to be very good at happy endings, according to the information on the back of the book. But there is no happy ending in this book, in fact there is no ending at all. After a long time both guys admit to their feelings, then kiss and then walk away again. No idea what happens next, or if they will…

Beware the Night
Bookreview / November 20, 2014

Let me start of by saying that I am not a religious man. I respect everyone and their faith, but I just don’t believe that much. Not in God and Heaven, or in the Devil and Hell. But someone recommended this book to me and wanted me to tell what I thought. So I read it and just finished today. The author Ralph Sarchie is a retired police officer who has turned full time demonologist. Whenever someone or something is possessed he gets a call and comes to the rescue. Some of his cases are described in this book, as a warning to everyone that the Devil is everywhere and we should all be very careful. And that is exactly why I don’t care much for this book. I understand that Sarchie is a religious man, but is it really ┬ánecessary to let us know that every other word. I have never seen so much use of the word God, Jesus or Devil in one book. You cannot read a sentence without it. And that really annoys me after a few pages. Also Sarchie has the annoying habit to tell tales in tales. And by that I mean he starts…

Crazy from the heat
Bookreview / November 15, 2014

Crazy from the heat is a new novel by Mercy Celeste. The story starts with Grey, a high school teacher at a high school that is not in the best neighborhood, but it gets by. Then suddenly a new boy shows up in his class and he is very interested in this blond beauty. But the boy is only 17 years old and there is no way a teacher can be with a student in the way he fantasizes about….. Paul is a 30 year old cop who happens to look like he is still 17. This comes in handy in his work as undercover cop for the narcotics division. One day he finds himself in a high school posing as a student to uncover a drugring. But his history teacher turns out to be a very hot one and he immediately falls in love with the man. But what can he do without blowing his cover…. It doesn’t take long for Grey to find out what is up with Paul and they start seeing each other in secret. But no one can ever find out, or the cover is blown. Or even worse, Grey could be pictured as a…
