Angel in a Book Shop is another story that can be placed under Christmas stories.…
But someone recommended this book to me and wanted me to tell what I thought. So I read it and just finished today.
The author Ralph Sarchie is a retired police officer who has turned full time demonologist. Whenever someone or something is possessed he gets a call and comes to the rescue.
Some of his cases are described in this book, as a warning to everyone that the Devil is everywhere and we should all be very careful. And that is exactly why I don’t care much for this book.
I understand that Sarchie is a religious man, but is it really necessary to let us know that every other word. I have never seen so much use of the word God, Jesus or Devil in one book. You cannot read a sentence without it. And that really annoys me after a few pages.
Also Sarchie has the annoying habit to tell tales in tales. And by that I mean he starts telling a story, but because of some fact he is reminded of another story, so he starts telling that story and then returns to the original story. Sometimes I would loose track of which story finished and which one ended. And that makes it very difficult to read.
So no I am still not a believer after this book. I know that people can do strange things and I am sure some of them think a demon has something to do with it, but I am not one of them. Whenever something like that would happen in my home, I would call a doctor or a psychiatrist and let them tell me what is wrong with me.
In 2014 a movie was made based on this book called “Deliver us from Evil” featuring Eric Bana and Edgar Ramirez. I have not seen this movie yet, but I have been told that not much of this book actually made it into the movie. I will check out the movie later on…
