Country Boys
Bookreview / August 12, 2018

Country Boys is a book by Peter Styles, written with a distinct cowboy theme. I have read cowboy books in the past, and I didn’t always like them. This one was recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to give it a try. Country Boys is a sweet love story with not much action, but a lot of love. Kyle and Allen used to be in school together. Once very good friends, but Kyle could not get out of town fast enough once he had the chance. Determined to make it out in the world, he drove out of town and never looked back again. But life isn’t always fair and after a few years Kyle is flat broke and in need of a job fast. So when he returns to town and gives his old friend Allen a call, Allen offers him a job as a ranch hand. Kyle accepts and moves in with Allen and his father. Allen used to have a major crush on Kyle back in school, but when Kyle left town, Allen decided it was not meant to be and forgot all about it. But when Kyle returns and even moves in the…

Nothing Serious (re-release)
Bookreview / August 11, 2018

Lately the lovely Jay Northcote has started re realising some of his earlier work with an updated cover. This book is one of them, I already blogged about it back in 2015. You can read that blog right here. Back then I said I wasn’t a big fan of Northcote, but that has certainly changed a lot. I read this story again and with great pleasure also. It is still a recommended story that everyone should read. Bedside Manner – Hearts and Health #2
Bookreview / July 22, 2018

Bedside Manner is part 2 in the Hearts and Health series by D.J. Jamison. My blog about part 1 can be found here. As with part 1, part 2 is also centred around a hospital and has medical characters in it. Zane Kavanaugh (best friend to Ben, who we met in part 1) is attacked in the street one day and ends up in hospital for a few days. Since he came out as gay his family doesn’t want anything to do with him anymore, so he is quite alone in the hospital. But when Dr. Paul Johnston enters the room, Zane has a completely new thing to think about. Paul has the most wonderful dark eyes and they leave Zane al flushed. Paul doesn’t want to fall for a patient, especially since he is already in trouble after receiving a complaint against him for behaving out of line. Recently divorced, just out as a gay  man, he is still very fragile and careful. He knows he would never do anything wrong, but he just can’t get a certain patient out of his head. So when Paul and Zane meet outside the hospital, what could possibly go wrong? Paul has…

The Little Things
Bookreview / July 21, 2018

I have actually blogged about this book before right here but it has now been republished with a different cover. The story is still the same, it’s only the cover that has changed. The story was already heartbreaking in 2015, but in 2018 it is just as heartbreaking. I just could not finish this story without a few tears in my eyes, and that means it is a very good story. Joel is gay, but a one night drunken affair with his best friend makes him a father and he loves his little girl Evie very much. Shared custody with Claire makes sure he sees Evie a lot and they are enjoying life. Joel even has a boyfriend Dan, so could life be any better? Then one night misfortune strikes and leaves Evie without a mother and now permanently in the care of Joel, who has to learn to live without his best friend. His relationship with Dan is strained, but he needs to put his daughter first, even before Dan. In the end their relationship cracks and they both decide it is best to separate. So now Joel is alone with his daughter and has to adjust to a new…

Second Chance
Bookreview / July 15, 2018

Second Chance by Jay Northcote is a new book by one of the greatest authors I know. Every single thing he publishes is an automatic buy for me. This book was no difference, but it was given to me as an eARC. It is not autobiographical, but because of the subject could be considered somewhat personal. Title: Second Chance Author: Jay Northcote Publisher: Jaybird Press (self published) Length: 67,000 words approx Genre: contemporary m/m romance, transgender Cover Artist: Garrett Leigh Release Date: Friday 20th April 2018 Series info: This book is a standalone Blurb Everyone deserves a second chance. Nate and his teenage daughter need a fresh start, so they move back to the village where he grew up. Nate’s transgender, and not used to disclosing his history, so it’s hard living where people knew him before. When Nate reconnects with Jack—his best friend from school and unrequited crush—his feelings return as strong as ever. Jack’s returned home to get his life in order after an addiction to alcohol caused him to lose everything: his job, his driver’s licence, and nearly his life. He’s living with his parents, which is less than ideal, but rekindling his friendship with Nate—or Nat…

Heart Trouble – Hearts and Health #1
Bookreview / July 14, 2018

Heart Trouble is part 1 in the Hearts and Health series by D.J. Jamison. All stories are taking place in or around the same hospital, where all main characters work or visit regularly. I know the medical theme, especially doctors and nurses has been a lot, but I really like the way it is done in these books. Characters from other books in the series will show up every now and then, so the stories really connect. I will be posting about the other parts in the series later on, so keep your eyes out for that. In part 1 we meet Gage Evans, who is admitted to the hospital after a dumb stunt he performed. Teaching a journalism class, he writes a column about doing things you have never done before, but always wanted to. And his latest stunt landed him in the hospital, where he lays his eyes on the very hot nurse Ben Griggs. Ben is very well aware of the way Gage looks at him, but he is really not interested in starting something with a patient, especially a daredevil like Gage. All he wants is a steady relation with a trustworthy man who loves him…
