Astronomical – Astronomers #1
Bookreview / October 18, 2016

Astronomical by Silvia Violet is the first part in a new series, called Astronomers. Guessing from the title all the books will have something to do with Astronomy, but we will have to wait for part 2 to be sure. In this first part we meet Blake Theriot. He is a research librarian and very very shy. He likes things to be done a certain way and have everything in a specific order. If something goes against his wishes it upsets him very much. So when Greg MacIntyre moves in next door, Blakes life will never be the same again. Greg is very sexy, wears a kilt and is everything Blake has ever dreamed about in a man. Strong, muscular and very hot. But what can he do to make Greg see him for what he is and what he wants. Every time he comes near the man his speech becomes impaired and he can’t say a normal word. It takes a few shots of whiskey to give him the courage to speak his mind, but will it be enough? I enjoyed this book very much, I could relate to the characters and was pleasantly surprised by how easy the…

Doc Brodie and the Big, Purple Cat Toy
Bookreview / October 7, 2016

Doc Brodie and the Big, Purple Cat Toy by Brigham Vaughn is a book that I bought purely because of the title and the small blurb that I read. That alone made me laugh out loud so I knew the book had to be good. And it was, it really was. Grant Murchison is a shy computer programmer with a very naughty cat called Molly. Grant loves Molly to death so when she gets hold of his favorite purple sex toy and nibbles at it, he needs to take her to the vet. Brodie Hall is a vet and he absolutely loves animals. His arms are covered in tattoos and he owns a dog called Ruby. So when Grant comes rushing in and is very embarrassed to admit the reason the cat is so sick, Brodie is instantly attracted to the cats owner and wants to know more. Brodie decides to pursue Grant, but finds that it is very difficult to get close to him. Grant has been hurt in the past and is now very careful not to get burned again. Will Brodie find the way to Grants heart? Now I know the story isn’t very deep and the…

Spy Stuff
Bookreview / October 6, 2016

Spy Stuff by Matthew J Metzger is actually the first story I ever read that has a transgender character in the main lead. And I can tell you, I loved it. It broke my hear, made me laugh and cry and I just could not stop reading it until the very end. Absolute brilliance. Anton is transgender, he was born a girl and is now a boy. And because of that he thinks he will never be loved by anyone. After all, who would want a transgender boyfriend. He can hide it only for so long, but as soon as someone finds out they run for the hills. Until there is someone that doesn’t. Jude Kalinowski is as straight as they come, or so Anton always thought. Very very attractive for sure, but someone like Jude would never go for him. But when Jude does ask him out, Anton doesn’t know what to do. At some point he will have to tell the truth, but is there ever a good time to do that? And what will happen when Jude finds out what Anton is hiding? Anton slowly relaxed as Jude started to brighten up and just … talk. Jude…

Why Love Matters
Bookreview / September 12, 2016

Why Love Matters is a new story by one of my all time favorite authors Jay Northcote. I automatically buy whatever she puts out, because I know it will be good. And once again I was not disappointed with this one. Alastair is about to make a very big business deal, but there is only one problem. The deal is with Italians and they prefer much more physical contact than just a simple handshake. And if there is one thing Alastair just cannot stand it is physical contact with anyone else. Martin, his faithful assistant offers the solution to this problem. His mother runs a place with specific workshops to help people with these kind of issues. Will Alastair be brave enough to try? Alastair is not only nervous about the workshop but also about spending the night with Martin in the same room. Because his assistant has been in more of his fantasies than he should be. So when the two men drive up to the estate and enter the workshop, they both might come out very different. I don’t know what it is about Northcote books, but they just get to me every single time. I could totally…

Ice – Salisbury Stories #2
Bookreview / August 31, 2016

Ice is the second part in the Salisbury Stories series. I already read part 1and so of course I had to read part 2 as well. R.J. Scott was kind enough to provide me with an ARC and I read it with great pleasure. For those of you who already read part 1 the background of the story will be well known. In the end of part 1 there was a great fire and part of the restaurant was destroyed and is now being rebuild. To do that Jonathan Ellis is hired. He is the owner of Ageless Wood Restorations and therefore cut out for a job like this. But the work is too much and he needs help. So when Greg Drakowski comes through town and offers his help he gladly accepts it. And of course it also helps the guy is cute as hell. But Greg is after something completely different and when he gets what he wants he intends to leave town again and never come back. Greg is having feelings towards Jonathan he has never had before for anyone and now he doesn’t know what to do. Will he stay and be happy or find the…

Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology
Bookreview / August 30, 2016

Troublemaker is the biography of actress Leah Remini, well known for her lead role in King of Queens. In this story she tells us all about her youth, her career and how she got into Scientology and eventually got out again. She has been with the church for over 30 years and is therefore able to give an inside view from what happened inside of the organization and with its members. I have never been a fan of King of Queens, but of course I know who Leah Remini is. But I never thought she could tell a story about her life and make it so interesting, funny and readable. It was a great story from beginning to end and I loved it. She broke with Scientology in 2013 very loudly and publicly. She entered the church as a child with her mother and her sister. She was always dreaming of becoming an actress and thought that Scientology could help her with getting there. Pretty soon she climbed high up in the hierarchy of the church and was ¬†on the same level as Tom Cruise. She even went to his wedding with Katie Holmes. But she also saw things wrong…
