Aaron's Story is the book that precedes what happens in Braden's Story, that I blogged…
Shifting Gears is the latest novel by Riley Hart and of course the sequel to Crossroads which I reviewed earlier. This new novel is the story of Rod and Landon, who we already met in the earlier novel but only in a background story. Now we finally learn their story, and I must tell you it is a sweet story.
Rod Nelson has recently opened an adult toy store and he is quite happy running the show. There is no room in his life for romance, so all he gets is one night stands. He is used to guys wanting to take him to bed and running away the next morning after they got what they wanted from him. But one day, Landon walks in to the store and he is different than other guys. Rod is sure Landon wants him, so why doesn’t he give in?
Landon is new to town and still trying to make friends. Landon never planned to return to this town where so many memories hunt him, but he has no other choice. And the hot guy in the adult store isn’t making things easier for him.
There is an instant attraction between both men, but both are refusing to give in for risking ending their friendship. Slowly they learn to work together and give this relation a real try, but it will require a lot of change and fighting. Are they willing to try?
I highly anticipated this story and had to buy it the instant it came out. Sadly I didn’t get around to it until recently, but it was so worth every penny I spend on it. Riley Hart manages to write stories that pull you in, make you a part of the story and never let you go again until you finished it. And even then you want more…. I could totally relate to both Rod and Landon and their growing attraction. Sometimes it is hard to cross the line between friendship and romance, but every now and then it is completely worth it.
Rod Nelson is used to being someone’s good time, and that’s fine with him. Spending his days at his adult toy store, Rods-N-Ends, he never knows who he’ll meet. The second Landon Harrison walks in, he has Rod’s full attention. It seems as if Landon wants him too, so why won’t the man jump in the sack with him already?
Landon never thought he’d return home to the town where memories lurk around every corner. He has to admit, Rod makes the adjustment a lot easier. He keeps Landon laughing. Despite the fierce attraction between them, he’s not willing to risk his newfound friendship to get laid.
Neither man wants something serious, but the more they’re together, the harder it is to keep their hands to themselves, until eventually they stop trying.
But flings between friends are never simple, and as they attempt to shift gears, diving into their first relationship, they’re slammed with setbacks. If they want to truly move forward, before they hit the open road together, they’re going to have to let go of a past that could make them crash and burn.
