Better Place – Rainbow Place #3
Bookreview / March 16, 2019

Better Place is part 3 in the Rainbow Place series by Jay Northcote, and once again he asked me to read and review this before it was published. So thank you very much Jay, for sending me the ARC. Joe has recently been fired from work and is now trying his luck as a writer. The story is all in his head, he just has to get it out on paper. But his partner Harry is less than supportive and is constantly bugging him. And because Harry also has a drinking problem, Joe is trying to get away from home more and more. He just doesn’t have the courage yet to break it off completely. But when he meets Dylan at Rainbow Place, while writing at a table in the cafe, he finally learns that he deserves so much more from life. Dylan is flirting with him, but because Joe is still not single he is afraid to take it any further. Slowly a friendship is forming and as Dylan learns more and more about Joe, he is really getting worried about the way Harry is treating Joe. Abuse is not always physical, it can also be mentally. When he…

The Foundation – Behind Closed Doors #1
Bookreview / August 10, 2016

The Foundation is a novel by Diana McKinley and deals with subjects like physical abuse and a rough childhood. Not an easy subject for most people, but Diana pulls it of very nice and makes for a very good and entertaining story. I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait to read more. Benjamin Alcott made it through high school with only one thing on his mind, getting away from his home. Life at home has been very rough and the environment is not a loving one. Ben made it to the top of his class and has secured enough scholarships to make sure his future is financially secured and he can pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Cord Robinson is a few years older than Benjamin but has always been interested in the young man. Not only because he is his best friends brother, but Cord wants there to be more between Benjamin and himself. But he waited until Ben was old enough and could decide for himself what he wants. And now the time has come to make his intentions clear to Ben and see if there is more in the future. But then the violence in…

Winter Freeze – Rags and Riches #1
Bookreview / March 6, 2016

Winter Freeze is the first novel in the new Rags and Riches series and is all about the way how two people very far apart still meet under certain circumstances and hit it off. Rich or poor, we all need love and we find it in sometimes unusual places. This first story is a prime example of that and it was so sweet and romantic. Winter Freeze refers to the time of year this story is set in, coming into winter real soon. Darren has been kicked out by his parents because he is gay and has been on the streets ever since. Surviving day to day, wondering when you will eat or sleep, it is so easy to get addicted or sell your body for money. He has seen it happen so many times before and he swore never to get that far. But when winter starts and the streets are getting colder and colder, what can you do? Andy is a cop and he loves his job. He is gay but he has no problems with it. His partner recently dumped him and he is once again alone. One night he comes from work and sees someone in…

Farm Fresh – Naked Organics #1
Blogtour , Bookreview , Bookteaser / January 28, 2016

Farm Fresh is book 1 in the new Naked Organics series by Posy Roberts and was send to me as an ARC, requesting a review. So thank you Posy for allowing me this honor. Jude Garrity is a regular visitor of a local farmers market. He is curious about a new way of living, but even more curious about the cute guy that works one of the stalls as the market. Hudson Oliva lives on a commune and works very hard to keep the commune going. The commune is all about providing queer people a safe haven and a place to live off the grid. Jude keeps asking Hudson questions about the place and how it is to live there. Soon Hudson realises he has to be completely honest about the place if he ever wants things to go further with Jude. Jude applies and eventually moves to Kaleidoscope Gardens, but his sexual hang-ups make it very hard for him to adjust. The commune is all about free sex, with anyone and everyone, even multiple partners if wanted. It takes a lot of time but in the end Jude starts to feel more comfortable, and is more certain about his…

Borderline Affairs: a memoir
Bookreview / January 25, 2016

Borderline Affairs was send to me by the author, Kirk Rehn, requesting a review. I accepted and started reading the book. It is not the normal kind of book I read, but once I started I knew I had to finish this book. It is not an easy book to read and clearly in need of some editing, but once you get into the story it just gets under your skin. In the authors own words: I have self-published a book, available in e-book and paperback format on Amazon, entitled “Borderline Affairs: A Memoir.” In a phrase, it describes the aftermath of my diagnosis with borderline personality disorder, a very rare psychiatric personality disorder, and the attendant domestic violence, rape, drug abuse, homelessness and multiple suicide attempts that followed. Much is written in free verse with a small mix of prose, and concentrates on the two-year period post-diagnosis. This is not, and is not intended to be, a mass market book, but rather a resource for persons in similar situations, whether they suffer from depression, personality disorders, drug abuse or LGBT/identity issues. There is much gritty and unnerving material, but I leave it there intentionally because the disease manifests in…

Giving Love A Chance – Second Chance for Love #1
Bookreview / January 12, 2016

When I read the blurb for this book I knew what I was getting myself into. Stories about abuse and rape are always hard, but the graphic description in this story makes it even harder. So if you want to read this story, know what you are reading. It might not be easy… John Burrows thought he had the perfect life. A wonderful husband, a dream career and all the friends and fans he could ever want. But that perfect life turned out to be a massive lie. When his husband turns out to be very jealous and even starts to abuse him, John doesn’t know what to do. Society thinks it doesn’t exist, a man would never allow himself to be treated that way. And still it does happen…. Until one night it turns really bad and John is left for dead. Ben Tensley is a passionate doctor and has a wonderful career. But he has never found a man to love for ever and he is sure he never will. Until that night when his friend calls him and takes him to take care of John Burrows. Is it wrong to find love on the most traumatic night…
