About Back to You Journalist Alex Buchanan has come home to the remote British Columbia town he grew up in, but only because his estranged father is dying. For Alex, the homecoming holds a mix of memories, mostly bad. The only bright spot is reconnecting with Benji Morning, the childhood friend he never truly forgot. As boys, the strength of their bond had frightened Alex. But now that he’s confident in his bisexuality, he’s drawn back to quiet, soft-spoken Ben. Ben isn’t the same boy Alex left behind, though. His life has been overshadowed by the disappearance of his sister two decades earlier, and now a new break in the case threatens to undo the peace he’s worked so hard to attain. Starting from Scratch – Housemates #5
Bookreview / April 30, 2017

And for another day, another wonderful novel from the even more wonderful Jay Northcote. It was send to me as an ARC and let me tell you, I LOVE this story. In the few weeks I have had it, I must have read it at least 5 times already and I know I will be reading it again and again. I love the whole Housemates series, but I especially love this part. Starting from Scratch is part 5 in the series, my reviews for part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4 can also be found on this blog. Ben is transgender (he used to be a girl) and back at university after hormone treatment and chest surgery. His new housemates have no idea about his history and Ben wants to keep it that way. He’s starting from scratch and his life is finally on track, except in the romance department. The idea of dating guys as a guy is exhilarating but terrifying, because if Ben wants a boyfriend he’ll have to disclose his secret. Sid is drawn to Ben from the moment they meet. He normally gets what he wants—in the short term at least. Ben’s guarded at first,…

Winter Oranges
Bookreview / February 1, 2016

I participated in the Winter Oranges blog tour a few weeks ago, you can find that post here. I was very intrigued by the story and I already knew I wanted to read it for myself. And now I finally did and I was not disappointed. It is sort of a Christmas story but very romantic and sweet, so it will definitely make you feel good. Winter Oranges is a novel by Marie Sexton and I think she did a great job with this story. I read the whole thing in two days and I just had to know how it ended, even though the ending was a little bit predictable. That is, I knew what had to be done about half way through the story. Anyway, back to the story. Jason Walker is a child star who’s sick of his failing acting career. He rents a house in northern Idaho, far away from press, drama and the friend he has secretly loved for years, but who never returned that love. But when he arrives at the house, he finds the house is also home to a ghost, Benjamin Ward. He soon learns Ben isn’t a ghost, but was once…

Just A Game
Bookreview / January 31, 2016

Just A Game is a short story by A.J. Ridges, only 34 pages in size. It’s not a bad story, but at best it can be described as a sexual fantasy written down on paper. Hot, sexy and erotic, but not very memorable. Maybe something for a rainy Sunday afternoon ? Bryan is a straight man, living together with his gay roommate Tim. One day Bryan meets his neighbor Ben in the hall and invites him over to watch the hockey game. He thinks Tim isn’t home and they will have no trouble. But it turns out not only is Tim home, he also has company, male company. Tim and his friend are having wild sex in the other room, while Bryan and Ben are trying to ignore the sounds coming through the wall. Awkward……. But what happens when maybe Ben is not as straight as he claims to be, and when Bryan is starting to have feelings he never thought he would have. And why is Ben looking for excuses to be with Bryan, no matter what he has to do for it? Could there be anything more between them, then they both thought possible? To my knowledge I…
