Rating my books

As a book blogger I am constantly rating and reviewing Books. But I have always found one thing to be very difficult. I just can’t get to grips with the 5 star rating system that everybody loves to use. Now like a lot of people I keep track of all my reading on Goodreads because it is an easy way to keep track of what you have read, what you still want to read and what you are reading at the moment. But there is one little thing that just irritates me very much. Whenever I have read a book they want me to Give it a rating.  I can choose between 0 and 5 stars, where 5 stars is the most perfect book I have ever read I guess. But after reading a lot of books I find that most of them fall in the 3 star category, with so far only 1 book making it up to 5 stars, namely a Dutch book about the Second World War. 3 stars to me means “It’s just a great book” but that is just a little bit too easy for me. Goodreads Reading Challenge 2015

Of course we all know about Goodreads as it is the number one source for all book related information. So you might also know they allow you to set yourself a challenge every year on how many books you are going to read in that year. I always join in and I find myself having to set the challenge higher every year. So this year I set myself the challenge of reading 175 books in one year. And guess what, today, with a few days to spare, I completed the challenge. So I feel extra proud of myself today. How many books did you read this year?
