Red Dirt Christmas – Red Dirt #3.5
Bookreview / February 16, 2016

Red Dirt Christmas is, as the title shows, part of the Red Dirt Heart series by N.R. Walker and is meant as a little add on the story telling about the first Christmas Travis and Charlie spend together at Sutton Station, in the middle of the outback Australia. And just as the other 4 books in the series, I loved this small add on as well. This book is set somewhere between book 3 and book 4, so whatever happens in book 4 hasn’t happened yet. There is no marriage yet and some other things are not present yet either. Life at Sutton Station has never been better. Business is good, everyone is happy and all is going well. Except that Christmas is just around the corner and Travis really misses the way it was celebrated at home. But at Sutton Station Christmas is just another working day like all the others and no one really bothers about it. But Charlie knows that this Christmas is the first Christmas Travis spends at Sutton Station and far away from his family so he knows he has to make this a Christmas to remember. Until now they never bothered much with decorations, a…

Red Dirt Heart 4

The fourth and, sadly, last edition to the Red Dirt Heart Series. The Charlie and Travis story continues, this time we see things from Travis’ point of view. His love for Charlie brought him all the way to the other side of the world, where he found a new home, new friends and the love of his life. And OMG this last part is one of hell of a ride. It actually made me cry at least three times, it was that good. As we can see through Travis’ eyes, Charlie has changed and grown a lot in the years. He is still stubborn and always thought he did things wrong, but he gets a better control of things and is no longer afraid Travis will walk out on him. He manages one of the biggest stations in Australia and loves everything about it. Travis no longer thinks of Texas as home, but found a new home in Australia. He cannot imagine living anywhere else ever again. There is still some drama in this part (hence the crying) but all in all, romance is just dripping from the pages and I literally couldn’t stop reading until I finished it. This…

The third part in the series and a worthy following up. Charlie and Travis are still together and life is flowing steady on the farm in outback Australia. But then things go wrong. Ma hasn’t been feeling well lately and keeps getting worse. Charlie still feels he is not good enough for Travis and has to learn to talk about his feelings. Then a call from America comes calling Travis back home again for an unknown time. It forces the boys apart and allows them time to think things over. Do they really want to be together or not? Is Charlie prepared to come out to other people and freely admit he is gay and in love with Travis? And to complete it all, Charlie’s long lost mother come back on the scene, wanting to be back in his life again and telling him he has a brother now. It all becomes too much for Charlie and he has to find a way to make everything right again in his head, his mind and his heart. I have said it before and I will say it again. I LOVE these books. N.R. Walker has a way with words that just…

Red Dirt Heart 2
Bookreview / December 6, 2014

The Red Dirt Heart series by NR Walker is one of my favourites to date. First of all, it is set in Australia, a country that I just love. Second of all, there is a lot of romance, love and friendship in this book. And last, I really like all the characters in the book and the way they are described. I can really see them in my mind and relate to them easily. In the first part we learn about Charlie Sutton who runs a big farm in Australia and is prepared to spend his life alone in the desert. But then Travis, an American student, enters his life and everything changes. They fall in love almost instantly and must learn to deal with that. Because of his nature, Charlie is very closed and not used to talk about his emotions. He thinks Travis will get up and leave at any moment. Travis however thinks differently. He loves Charlie all the way and decides to stay in Australia with Charlie and change his life forever. He works very hard and does his share of the work at the farm, but spends every night with Charlie. But then something happens…
