Aaron's Story is the book that precedes what happens in Braden's Story, that I blogged…
Hard Candy is part 7 in the Bend or Break series and tells us the story of Vincent (Vinnie) Lim. As we learned in part 6 he has an occasional hook up thing with his best friend Austin and he assumed Austin would always be there waiting for him. But then Austin fell in love with Sean and is no longer available. And now Vinnie is lost and doesn’t know what to do anymore.
So one night he goes out dancing and picks up Bryan, a dance major. Vinnie is drunk and the one night stand turns out to be one of the worst he has ever had. He totally blew it and does what he always does. Pretend it never happened and he doesn’t know Bryan. But Bryan is the one person he cannot forget.
Bryan is the totally out and totally posterboy for gay. He knows he wants Vinnie to pay attention to him but he knows he has to fight for it. Vinnie has a one tracked mind, always living up to someone else’s expectations. But Bryan won’t accept being left out and he demands to have attention. Will Vinnie be able to deal with that and will he give their love a chance?
I always wondered what the story of Vincent would be. The way he acts and the way he treats his friends and family, there had to be something about him. And I was not disappointed at all, the story turned out to be great and answered all my questions. By the picture on the cover I think Vincent is of Asian decent and that might create some extra problems for him and accepting who he is.
Amy Jo Cousins has once again created a masterpiece with this one and I will be reading it again and again. Will there be more in this series? Lets hope so.
Warning: Contains one uptight rower, a dancer who can rock a skirt like nobody’s business, yoga lessons, and the benefits of being very bendy.
