This has got to be one of the worst books I ever read. Maybe it…
As we all know the number one fantasy for any gay man is too seduce a straight guy and make him “see the light” and turn gay as well. In real life that almost never happens, but of course we can always fantasize about it. Just a Bit Twisted is exactly that kind of fantasy.
Alessandra Hazard fantasizes away in the new Straight Guys series. The situation is almost always the same. There is a straight guy, a gay guy and for some reason they end up together. Quite simple, but very effective.
In part 1 of the series we meet 20 year old Shawn Wyatt, who is struggling to take care of his two younger sisters, while maintaining a job and a scholarship. On the verge of losing his scholarship, he turns to Professor Derek Rutledge for help. Rutledge is the most feared Professor on campus, known to be strict and ruthless. But as we will soon learn, there is more to the Prof than meets the eye.
He agrees to help Shawn in return for some sexual favors. He will give Shawn a passing grade and even pay him some money on the side. Although Shawn always thought he was straight, he agrees and for a while the agreement works out for both of them. But slowly it turns in to much more than just sex for pay. Neither of them signed on for this, but they cannot stop what is coming and what is happening to them…..
I must say that I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t stop reading once I started. The story is great and the characters strong and believable. But one thing really bugs me. Shawn is struggling to keep his life running, take care of his sisters and works very hard in 2 jobs and goes to school. And somehow he manages to find the time to be with Derek all the time, go to places with him and do all the things Derek wants him to do. It seems as if Shawn manages to put more than 24 hours in 1 day.
But other than that, great read and very highly recommended.
Professor Derek Rutledge is hated and feared by all of his students. Strict, reserved and ruthless, he doesn’t tolerate mistakes and has little patience for his students.
Shawn Wyatt is a twenty-year-old struggling to provide for his younger sisters after the death of their parents. On the verge of losing his scholarship, Shawn becomes desperate enough to go to Professor Rutledge.
Everyone says Rutledge doesn’t have a heart. Everyone says he’s a ruthless bastard. Shawn finds out that everyone is right.
He strikes a deal with Rutledge, but unexpectedly, the deal turns into something so much more.
The Straight Guys series seems to be the first books Alessandra published, so it sure is a great start. Find out more on her personal website here.
