Prince of the Playhouse – Love in Laguna #3
Bookreview / April 28, 2016

Prince of the Playhouse is part 3 in the Love in Laguna series and I was so looking forward to this one. After reading part 1 and part 2, I fell in love with this series and I just need to read them all. And this third part made me fall in love all over again. Tara Lain is quickly becoming one of my auto buy authors and she hasn’t disappointed me yet. We met Ru Maitland in the earlier parts, but in this story he gets his own story. All he has ever wanted was to become the worlds greatest fashion designer and he might just get the chance when the local playhouse decides to perform a Shakespeare play with none other than Gray Anson in the lead. Anson has so far only done action movies, but he really wants to try his hand at something more serious. The director asks Ru to design the costumes for the play and because of Anson there will be a lot of attention. But it just happens that Ru has had a live long crush on the supposedly straight Anson and he would like nothing more than to work close to the…

Driven Snow – The Pennymaker Tales Series #2
Bookreview / January 5, 2016

Driven Snow by Tara Lain is the second novel in the Pennymaker Tales Series. Both books can be read separately, the only binding factor in them is the appearance of the mysterious Mr. Pennymaker. Somehow he always seems to have a hand in things and usually he is right about everything. Snowden “Snow” Reynaldi is a brilliant, beautiful and very alone young man. He is a chess master and has had a secret crush on Riley Prince, the champion quarterback of the team for as long as he can remember. But he is sure nothing can come from this crush as he is sure that Riley is straight and would never look twice at a boy like him. And on top of that Snow has other problems in his life. His one true friend and mentor marries a woman who has an agenda of her own and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Riley Prince really needs a physics tutor if he wants to continue playing and Snow jumps at the chance to be closer to the object of his desire. And then it turns out, there might be more to the relation between the boys than Snow…

Knave of Broken Hearts – Love in Laguna #2
Bookreview / August 10, 2015

Knave of Broken Hearts is part 2 in the Love in Laguna series by Tara Lain, one of my most favorite authors. In part 1 we met Billy and Shaz, who despite their differences found each other and fell in love head over heels. We also met Jim Carney as part of Billy’s work crew and this second book tells the story of Jim. Jim ran away from home at age 16, escaping from his very controlling and homophobic father. Since then he has made his own way in life, working in construction wherever he could. Finally he ends up working for Billy Ballew and he admires him a whole lot. When Billy finally came out as gay, Jim admired him even more and he is very happy for Billy and Shaz. This second novel starts just after the wedding of Billy and Shaz. They are leaving for their honeymoon and Billy asks Jim to be his construction supervisor and take over for him while he is gone. Jim is honored, but a bit nervous about so much responsibility. Part of the new job is a physical exam and Jim goes to see the doctor, only to run into the…

Winter’s Wolf – Tales of the Harker Pack #3
Bookreview / June 27, 2015

Winter’s Wolf is part 3, and so far the final part in the Harker Pack series. And I must say they are getting better one by one. I liked part 3 more than I liked parts 1 and 2. Even though I generally don’t like shifter stories, this one really got to me in a good way. Young Winter Thane was raised by his father far away in Canada and at a very young age learned the two cardinal rules of werewolfs. Never reveal yourself to a human and there is no such thing as a gay werewolf. But of course Winter is gay and has so far only acted out his love with human males and never got further than casual flings and one night stands. But one day his father drags him away from Canada to Connecticut to meet up with his old pack and teach Winter how to act around other werewolves. And of course stop being gay. But when they finally meet the Harker pack, it turns out there are more gay werewolves and everyone is very accepting of them. Winters father sees his hopes destroyed. Next we meet FBI agent Matt Partridge, deeply involved in…

Wolf in Gucci Loafers – Tales of the Harker Pack #2
Bookreview / June 21, 2015

Wolf in Gucci Loafers is part 2 in the Harker Pack Tales and equally enticing and good. Set in the same universe as the first story, it provides back ground to characters that played a small part in the first story. I really like the build up in that way. Lindsey Vanessen is a unique being, half man, half werewolf. Once told impossible, and yet here he is. All he ever wanted in life was someone to love and someone who loves him. But who would want to have him? Too aggressive for man, too gay for werewolf. So he makes sure he is a very successful business man and is therefore very rich. Then members of rich families start being kidnapped and Lindsey decides to investigate. In doing so, he meets detective Seth Zakowsy, a black leather cop who instantly intrigues him. Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men, but somehow Lindsey is different. But what would the people at work think when he came home with a guy like that? Surely they would laugh  at him and never let him hear the end of it. And yet, Seth cannot keep away from the man, more and more thinking…
